Alicanta Knits

 This was a super quick little gift I made for my sister for Christmas. Just a 54in x 54in square handprinted cotton Indian fabric and a couple of yards of ball trim. Four easy steps: 1. Iron fabric. 2. Seam (I used a 5mm seam presser foot) 3. Sew on ball trim (I used a double needle) 4. Cut thread tails.  Y ahora en castellano: Este fue un regalo extra rápido que le hice a una de mis hermanas para navidad. Usé un cuadrado de algodón indio estampado a mano de 135 x 135cms y un par de metros de cinta con borlas.  Sólo cuatro pasos fáciles: 1. Planchar la tela. 2. Hacer la basta (usé un prensatela de 5mms) 3. Coser la cinta decorativa (usé una aguja doble) 4. Cortar los hilos sobrantes.  🎁🎁

 I'm super backed up on new patterns and pattern reviews, so I'm uploading a quick one: the Kenzie Kimono by Lakeside Loops. The pattern has been written for several sizes (children to adults). I decided to make my sister one with a yarn of her choice for her birthday. The yarn used was really nice but not great to bring out the stitch pattern. I couldn't convince her to do one color, but it turned out really pretty anyway, at least she thought so ^_^ The pattern has lots of pictures so it is super easy to follow; definitely a great beginner project for crocheters. Alterations made: 1. Made it wider for a more dramatic torso and sleeves.  2. Made a fuller fringe (about twice as many strands as called for) but without the second row of knots.  3. I sewed the back of the two halves a little lower than the pattern called for (about 3 ½  inches before the midpoint) to prevent the weight from pulling the poncho down. My sisters' birthdays are coming up so I decided to make pretty things for them. My older sister, Constanza (Cons, for short) is a (good) witch, living the in the south of Chile. She's always on the go and loves summer so I wanted to make her something useful and bright. I decided to use "Inga's Crocheted Bag" as a starting point for a cute personalized present.  I used Lion Brand 24/7 cotton in jade (a gorgeous teal shade) and a 3.5mm (size E hook) for the bag itself. I then lined it with handprinted Indian cotton and added a zipper.  Here's the link to the original pattern. What I modified: 1. The original pattern calls for 16 granny squares. The advantage of the granny square is that you can be as intricate and imaginative as you want with tis design, so the possibilities are endless. Today is my Ravelry anniversary, 11 years. So, it made sense to celebrate it by making one last very necessary case for my circular knitting needles. I decided to continue tweaking the pattern in yesterday's video; I needed it to be much bigger and prevent needles from sliding out. My new version has pockets on the top and bottom and folds in half to prevent anything from falling out. I chose elastic remnants to make ties but rope and buttons or bias tape would have worked too. I used some Ankara fabric from Ghana gifted to me by a friend. I love the bold patterns and colors.  Hoy es mi aniversario de Ravelry número 11.
